Some of the features that were used in that version needs PHP 5.3+.
We apologies for any headache this may cause you, but frankly it is better for you to check with your hosting company how can you upgrade the PHP version that you are using, and not only in order to use this plugin. PHP 5.2 should be considered insecure now, and for your own sake you should upgrade.
PHP 5.2 is very old and any support for it from the php developers had ended more then 5 years ago php.net/eol.php.
We know there are peopel how use PHP 5.2 wordpress.org/about/stats and we can’t imagine this people will have no other problems, if they don’t update.

You check the PHP version with phpversion(), but the widget don’t work

Check also the .htaccess file, if there is an entry for an older PHP version.

Reviews

Very responsive support

I really like this plugin, easy to use and does what I expected. Encountered an issue after last upgrade, answer came within less than an hour, as well as a patch the next day. Great!

Great Plugin

Does what it’s supposed to do and does it well.
Plugin author was quick to reply and repair a minor issue that occurred after plugin update.

Support is excellent

I found a bug with their new patch, which was an incompatibility issue with ACF repeater field.
I contacted them about it in the contact section of tiptoppress and they answered before the hour was up.
Seemed very eager to fix the issue, and when I pointed out how to test it, they developed a patch for it.

People can say : “They don’t test their updates” or “the bug shouldn’t have been there to begin with”, but you can’t test compatibility with every plugin out there, even though ACF is huge!

I used the widget for a long time, but have since developed a shortcode that basically does the same, but with less strain – So I have opted out of using it anymore, but my time with the widget was fine.

Good on ya

Absolutely Wonderful!

I confess, I didn’t use the more arcane features but to simply list posts from a category… Easy as pie!

Thanks for creating this fantastic plugin.
