WP Smart Taxonomy

Beskrywing

The plugin provides an easy way to automatically assign your posts to relevant categories. The plugin looks up your post title, content, excerpt and tags, matches the key words with already available categories and automatically assigns the post to those relevant categories.

This plugin will be really helpful if your website has a huge number of post and post categories. The plugin minimizes the effort of manually assigning each and every post to relevant categories.

For example, if you create a post with a title “IPhone 5S Reviews” and you have categories like “IPhone”, “Reviews” available, then the post gets automatically assigned to these categories.

Compatibility

The plugin is fully compatible with the recent versions of WordPress.

  • Compatible with older WordPress versions, down to 3.0.
  • Multilingual Support is included with the plugin and is fully compatible with WPML.
  • Support added for common importers like WordPress Importer and WP All Import.

Configurable

WP Smart taxonomy is completely customizable. Among others, you may enable/disable smart category(ies), append with existing categories, choose whether to generate smart category associations from post titles and tags.

From version 1.0.3 onwards, the settings can be overriden for individual posts.

From version 1.0.8 onwards, collections can also be made using post content or excerpt.

Upcoming Features

The plugin now only works with default WordPress posts and taxonomies.
In the upcoming version we will be adding support for custom post types and taxonomies. So, keep a look out for the updated version. 🙂

Kwel-vrae

Does this plugin work with newest WP version and also older versions?

Yes, this plugin works really fine up to WordPress 4.6! It is also compatible with older WordPress versions, down to 3.0.

I don’t have any categories created in my WordPress. How do I assign my existing posts using the plugin?

No worries. Just go and create your categories and come back and update your WordPress posts. Voilà, there you have your smart collection of posts. 🙂

Does this plugin support custom post types and taxonomies ?

Not at this moment. But we are working on it.

Is the plugin compatible with Woocommerce?

No. It presently works with default WordPress posts and categories. Keep a look out for the updated version – the future version of the plugin will support custom post types and taxonomies.

I have the latest version of the plugin. My posts average many thousands of words and many of them are over 10,000 words and as many as 30,000 words. I also publish 30 to 40 posts a day. When I run the plugin it tends to assign too many categories making the categorization of posts kind of meaningless as the posts don’t seem to be under the “right” categories. Wondering if there is a way to set a limit on the number of categories for each post and also that the top, most often found categories are found/used/returned? Wondering how to fix this. May be willing to look at a custom solution. Thanks!
